Since it was established in October 1984, OAB has been leading the corporate banking, project financing and trade finance business. OAB has made a significant contribution to the development of the Sultanate’s economy by financing most of the infrastructure construction and development projects such as cement plants, highways, airports, harbours, power stations, water desalination plants, hospitals and oil & gas projects.
OAB has been actively developing its capabilities in project financing. This has been demonstrated in its leading role in the first BOOT project in Oman, the Manah Power project, and our role as financial advisor in several other projects in Oman.
Chiyoda / foster Wheeler, who have built the two LNG plants near Sur (Oman LNG and Qalhat LNG) selected OAB as their local banker, this project is by far the largest (US$ 7 billion) and nationally the most important project in the Sultanate of Oman.
OAB was selected as the account bank for Sohar Industrial Port company (joint venture between Oman Government and Rotterdam Port Authority) subsequently OAB took the leading role in all developing projects at the port such as Sohar Refinery, Oman Methanol, Oman Polypropylene, Oman Aromatics, Fertilizer project, Sohar IWPP project and Sohar Aluminium project.
